Creative Group Therapy
Creativity is playing with ideas and imagination to create something new. It can be little or big. It doesn’t require any experience, but simply a willingness to be curious and open to playing and exploring. There’s no “right” way to do it. Often the process of being creative is just as beneficial as the end result, if not more so.
Being creative can help us to:
- Process, express and release emotions
- Make sense of internal thoughts
- Reduce stress
- Increase mindfulness (focusing on the present moment with openness, curiosity, and without judgement)
- Increase self-awareness
- Increase self-esteem
- Enhance wellbeing and quality of life
- Manage behaviours
- Develop and enhance connection through sharing
The creative therapeutic groups I run can utilise a variety of mediums and forms, such as painting, drawing, creative writing, collage, photography, clay, lino cutting and printing, music and cyanotype printing.
If you would like to discuss how I could implement some creative group therapy in your organisation, please get in touch.
